What is FIYC 2022?

The Financial Inclusion Youth Committee 2022 (FIYC2022) is an initiative for young people to kickstart financial inclusion advocacy by organising youth-led events to develop innovative ways to achieve financial inclusion.

Members of FIYC will receive support and guidance from industry mentors, organisers and workshops.

The aim is to establish a sustainable national financial inclusion movement via a registered association that will continue the work for many years to come.

Our First Meeting

Where: Kuala Lumpur 

 

When: 4-6 March (3 days)

 

Costs: Free of charge

  • Food and accommodation provided.
  • Transport costs (two-way) covered for participants from outside Selangor/KL, including East Malaysia.

Who can join?

  • Youth aged 18-30 from any field.
  • Young professionals within the age range.
  • Students within the age range graduating on or after February 2023.
  • Passionate about financial inclusion.

FIYC2022 is a committee which gathers innovative and purpose-driven youths to work together to address and raise the awareness of financial inclusion within the communities they live in, starting from university campuses.

 

The main focus will be on the understanding, access and uptake of microtakaful among the disadvantaged communities.

 

You will advocate to get more people, especially the marginalised to be protected against financial risks as campus ambassadors.

 

The aim is to establish a sustainable national financial inclusion movement that will continue the work for many years to come.

The first Financial Inclusion Youth Committee Meeting is organised by Fun(d) for Life (a partnership between FWD Takaful and Arus Academy).

Some examples include 

-organising a workshop run by students at your university to teach the elderly how the importance of protection against adverse life events.

-running a TikTok campaign targeting the B40 to improve their awareness of microtakaful.

 

You are free to come out with your own ideas.

Grants are available for approved initiatives. You will also be able to meet other like-minded people who are passionate about improving the lives of all Malaysians. Besides, you may also be prioritised for internship positions with one of the organisers.

Your responsibilities, among others include: 

a) To plan and conduct advocacy campus events to raise awareness on financial inclusion

b) To plan and execute social media campaigns to recruit peers into the Financial Inclusion Youth Committee; and

c) To facilitate/support the Fun(d) for Life team in organising financial inclusion programmes.

Senior leadership comprises the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer who are supported by specialist leads in Creative Communication, Strategic Development, Advocacy & Events, Recruitment and Impact Measurement.

If selected to go into the next round, you are expected to be present and participate actively during your ambassadorship period of 1 year from February 2022, including core events/activities as detailed in the ‘Participants’ Journey’ above.

You must submit your application as an individual. Only 1 submission is accepted per person.

No, you may make your submissions in either Bahasa Malaysia or English. Your submissions will be judged based on merits and not the language used.

 

Do note that the live sessions will be primarily conducted in English, although you are allowed to use Malay throughout your participation.

No, it doesn’t. We’re looking for young individuals who are passionate and creative about wanting to build a more equitable world for all. However, basic understanding of financial literacy and financial inclusion would be an added advantage.

Yes. The FIYC will be a one-year commitment. The committee will be registered as a society with the Registrar of Societies (ROS).

All your submissions, photos/videos and other necessary information related to the event may be used in our social media and communication with external parties for the purpose of event promotion and reporting.
